Have you always wanted to try treading the boards, but didn’t know where to start? Have you been away from the theatre for a while and want to get back into it?

Then New Rosemere Amateur Operatics Society could be for you!

We’re a well known society which has been running for nearly 90 years, and with so many shows under our belt, we’re always keen for new members. If you are over 16 and fancy giving it a go, email newrosemere@yahoo.co.uk for more information and join our Facebook page (just search “new rosemere”!)

The upcoming show is now fully cast, but if you’d like to come along and see if you like us; no obligations of course, drop us an email and you can come along to one of our rehearsals.

Forever Friends
RITA WITH LONG TIME FRIEND GILL TONGE

Rehearsals begin on the 6th September 2010 and we'd love to see you there!

Rita Whitelaw joined the society some thirty years ago after moving into the area with her husband.

Rita had appeared on stage with her husband Robert before joining New Rosemere in an attempt to save money as a young married couple, as members of Robert's works Gilbert and Sullivan society had the privilege of half price drinks in the club.

Moving to Bolton and joining New Rosemere, Rita's amateur stage career flourished with Principal roles in Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe and Yeomen of the Guard. Rita made lifelong friends amongst our ranks including our chairman, Gill Tonge and Life Member Pat Killeen.

But New Rosemere is not just for acting and singing! In 2006, Rita stunned audiences with her staging of 'Iolanthe', winning a coveted N.O.D.A (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) award.

Thirty years after those early appearances at Walmsley Parochial Hall, Rita appeared in 2009 in Patience and had a wonderful time and great fun with people she loves and cherishes...
